About Henning Speck

Early in his career, Speck received diplomatic training at the Foreign Service Academy, leading him to become the Spokesperson and Head of the Press and Cultural Affairs Department at the German Embassy in Kabul. He then went on to work as Desk Officer for Andean Countries at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin and served on the Federal Office's Afghanistan Task Force. Some of his other accomplishments include serving as Director for Asian Affairs in the National Security Staff of the Federal Chancellery, Human Resources Officer at the Federal Foreign Office responsible for career diplomatic staff planning in North Africa, Middle East, Arabian Peninsula, Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan, Chief of Staff to the German Ambassador to the US, and Political Counselor for Asian Affairs, United Nations and the Western Hemisphere. Since 2014, he has served as Chief of Staff to the Coordinator of Transatlantic Cooperation in Berlin.
