To connect young professionals with a passion for global affairs and a desire to strengthen Denver’s international community through networking, education, service and professional development.




Anyone under age 40 and with a passion for international affairs and education. Membership is for those wanting to learn more about international issues, and provides an opportunity to come together and share a common interest, whether you are studying, working in international careers, or seeking a career.

WorldDenver Young Professionals is a program of the organization, WorldDenver. We are managed by an Advisory Committee responsible to WorldDenver and the Executive Director, representing members and organizations that serve as collaborative partners.

Adrielle has been a member of WorldDenver for 4 years and loves the way it helps her stay engaged with like-minded people in her community. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Social Work at the University of Denver, and plans to work for the Unaccompanied Refugee Minor program here in Denver. Adrielle is addicted to globe-trotting, climbing mountains, and discovering new ethnic eateries.



VP, Marketing

Evan attended Fort Lewis College, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Finance & Entrepreneurship. Evan now works as an ABB sales representative, supplying critical infrastructure to many industries, including renewable energy and water management, along with launching a cyber security business in late 2017. He is a strong believer in creating positive change through entrepreneurship. Evan spends his free time generally enjoying nature while rock climbing, hiking, and skiing. WorldDenver is the home Evan has found to interact with the international community while continuously learning and participating in world affairs.


VP, Events

Sierra is passionate about civic engagement and community leadership, especially in a global context. She links people to resources in order to identify and promote individual potential. She served in the Peace Corps in Benin and has been an English language instructor, curriculum coach, teacher trainer, literacy advisor, and country representative to USAID-funded projects in francophone Africa. In Colorado, she strives to develop and highlight the contributions of our refugee and immigrant neighbors. She has a Masters in International Development, Nonprofit Management and Capacity-Building from the Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver, and works as the Achievement Coach under the Strengthening Working Families Initiative in the Foundational Skills Institute at the Community College of Denver.


VP, Membership

Choolwe is an enthusiastic and impact-driven civil/chemical engineer who currently works in the realm of water supply infrastructure development, water disinfection, water reuse, wastewater treatment, pollution remediation and hazardous waste management. She has been a member of World Denver for over a year. She graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) from Miami University of Ohio and a Master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder. Choolwe was actively involved in Engineers without Borders, working on projects based in Rwanda and Ecuador. She also took an internship in Rwanda where she participated in a government-supported nationwide campaign in distributing water filters and cook stoves. Upon her return, she led the efforts in hosting the third annual Colorado Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Symposium at the University of Colorado - an event that hosts WASH enthusiasts from different parts of the country and the world to discuss strategies in alleviating the global water challenges. Outside of her craft, Choolwe loves to read, bike, cook, dance and spend time with family and friends. 



Laurel works in Development at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, and spends her free time biking, reading, and traveling with her husband, John. She enjoys supporting international development efforts, and loves being able to connect with other globally minded people through WorldDenver. One of her proudest accomplishments was biking across the USA in 2013 to raise support for Burmese refugees.



John works as an International Business Development Analyst at United Launch Alliance, a joint venture owned by Lockheed Martin and The Boeing Company. Spending much of his time learning about space and conducting research on the international launch market, WorldDenver has provided the perfect outlet to continue learning and engaging in global affairs. Some of John's favorite hobbies include reading, traveling WorldDenver Bar Chats, and Sweet Bloom coffee.



Emily works for the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine as the Director of Clinical Operations and Patient Advocacy. She has 8+ years of experience in public health and immigration law and studied at the University of Colorado Denver to receive her Masters in Public Administration. Emily’s professional interests include international development, global public health, and advancing women’s leadership.



Gergana first joined WorldDenver as an intern in March 2012 and took on primary responsibility for Fee-For-Service Professional Exchange Programs in 2014. In that time, she has worked on dozens of International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and Fee-for-Service programs. A recipient of the Boettcher Scholarship, she obtained her Masters Degree in International Studies from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, and a Bachelors Degree in International Studies and Spanish, both from the University of Denver. As a student, Gergana studied abroad in Chile and later briefly returned to conduct graduate research. She has also participated in short-term study programs in Spain, Belize, Austria, and Nicaragua. Prior to her position at WorldDenver, Gergana worked in undergraduate admission and held various leadership roles on campus. Currently, she remains involved in volunteer activities in her community, including a seat on the board of WorldDenver Young Professionals, the Pioneer Leadership Program Alumni Association, and the Boettcher Scholar Alumni Board. She is also part of the 2016 Impact Denver class of the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation. Gergana moved to the United States with her family from Bulgaria in 1999 and has lived in Colorado ever since. In her spare time, Gergana enjoys exploring everything that Denver and the Colorado mountains have to offer.



Sean is an attorney at Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe in Denver. He focuses on government relations and regulatory affairs, and previously worked for the City of Denver. He lived in Geneva, Switzerland during college for an internship with a United Nations agency. He studied International Relations at Michigan State (Go Green!) and graduated from Villanova Law School. He enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and reading.



Joe is the Assistant Director at the Office of Career and Professional Development at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver.  He was previously a Foreign Service Officer serving in Saudi Arabia, Mexico City, Turkey, New York, and at the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration in Washington.  Prior to this he spent three years studying Arabic, conducting research (Fulbright), and working on refugee programs in Jordan.  Joe also worked for the Fulbright program with the Institute of International Education and conducted government relations work for Project C.U.R.E.  Joe holds a Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelors of Arts in Government from Hamilton College.



Maureen works for Denver Public Schools (DPS) as a Policy Communications Specialist and recently finished graduate school, receiving her MPA from the University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs. Prior to joining Team DPS, Maureen spent six years at Engaged Public, a Denver-based policy consulting firm. She provided policy and public engagement design, as well as directed the Colorado Youth Advisory Council (COYAC). Maureen began her work in public policy as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer with Share Our Strength, a national hunger organization. Maureen is a proud graduate of the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA, where she double majored in Political Science and Comparative Sociology. Go Loggers!



Kevin evaluates tax credits and other tax preferences as a Senior Legislative Performance Auditor at the Colorado Office of the State Auditor. He has previously worked on community engagement, civic technology, legislative analysis, political campaigns, social entrepreneurship, international development, and research into international trade and investment. Kevin served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Cameroon, and studied at the London School of Economics and UC Berkeley (Go Bears!).
